Brown Fused Alumina F46 Technical Data Sheet: Composition, Properties and Uses

Overview

Brown Fused Alumina F46 is a medium grade in the CHAOYAN F grit range produced by Luoyang Naibao New Materials Co., Ltd. It is positioned for bonded abrasives, blasting and industrial grinding. Among the grades covered in this data sheet series, F46 is also the one whose product page publishes the most supporting data, including a full reference sample analysis, which makes it a useful benchmark when comparing the A and A-B specification columns.

F46 is specified in two columns, A and A-B: grade A carries the tighter chemistry window and grade A-B the wider one. The ranges published here are reference specifications, and the sample values below are reference sample results. Guaranteed values for any order follow the agreed technical document and the batch test result. Before ordering, confirm the grade, chemistry, particle size distribution and packing in the agreed technical specification.

Chemical Composition

Parameter A A-B
Al₂O₃ (%) 95.00–97.50 ≥93.00
TiO₂ (%) 1.50–3.80 1.50–4.20
CaO (%) ≤0.45 —

Grade A is specified at 95.00–97.50% Al₂O₃ and grade A-B at a minimum of 93.00% Al₂O₃. Titania ranges from 1.50% to 3.80% for grade A and from 1.50% to 4.20% for grade A-B. A CaO limit of ≤0.45% is published for grade A; no CaO limit is published for A-B in the standard table.

The product page additionally publishes a reference sample analysis for F46, reproduced below exactly as published. These are single reference sample results, shown so buyers can see where a typical tested lot falls inside the ranges above; they are not guaranteed limits for every batch.

Parameter — F46 reference sample A A-B
Al₂O₃ (%) 95.72 95.56
SiO₂ (%) 0.92 1.12
TiO₂ (%) 2.52 2.39
Fe₂O₃ (%) 0.06 0.06
CaO (%) 0.28 0.30

In the reference samples, alumina measured 95.72% (A) and 95.56% (A-B), both inside the published windows, with Fe₂O₃ at 0.06% in both columns and CaO at 0.28% and 0.30% respectively.

Physical Properties

Parameter A A-B
Bulk density (g/cm³) — reference sample 1.85 1.85
Magnetic content ≤ (%) 0.0300 0.0580
Calcination temperature (°C), A grade 1050–1350 —

The magnetic content limit for F46 is 0.0300% for grade A and 0.0580% for grade A-B — lower than the limits published for F24 and F36, continuing the pattern of tighter magnetic control on finer grades. A calcination temperature range of 1050–1350 °C is published for the A grade, with no figure published for A-B. The reference sample bulk density is published at 1.85 g/cm³ for both columns; note that this is a reference sample value rather than a guaranteed specification limit.

Particle Size

F46 is graded to the F grit sequence. The product page does not publish fixed distribution percentages for this grade: distribution limits and sieve fractions are confirmed in the agreed technical specification and the batch test report. The sieve limits for an order are therefore agreed in writing, and each batch is tested against them. Buyers working to a specific standard, or matching an existing supply, can send the target standard, the sieve limits or a working sample so the requirement can be checked before an order is placed.

Applications and Selection Notes

The published applications for Brown Fused Alumina F46 are bonded abrasives, blasting and industrial grinding. As a medium grade, F46 sits between F36 and F60 in this series: buyers generally reach it when F36 leaves a rougher finish than the process allows, or when a finer grade such as F60 removes material too slowly. Because the F46 page publishes reference sample chemistry and bulk density, it is also a practical grade for a first trial: the trial lot can be compared directly against the published reference values.

A sound selection sequence is to pick the chemistry column first (A or A-B), then agree the sieve distribution in the technical specification, then confirm performance with a sample in your own process. These notes are guidance only; suitability for a specific tool or blasting setup should be confirmed by testing.

Packaging and Supply

Brown Fused Alumina F46 is supplied in 25 kg bags or jumbo bags, with pallet options available; exact packing and labeling are confirmed per order, consistent with the product page instruction to confirm bag or bulk packing and labeling with the order. Samples are available for evaluation before a bulk commitment. The full English product data sheet can be downloaded here: Download the F46 PDS (PDF). When sending an inquiry, include the grade, application, quantity and any target chemical or size distribution requirements.
