PRODUCT / WHITE FUSED ALUMINA

White Fused Alumina

Fused from high-purity alumina in an electric arc furnace: a white, blocky, sharp-edged grain — hard, chemically stable and low in iron.

01 / THE MATERIAL

Two fused aluminas, one production base

White fused alumina is produced by fusing high-purity alumina in an electric arc furnace. The result is a white, blocky grain with sharp edges — hard, chemically stable, and low in iron, which makes it the standard choice where contamination has to be kept out of the process.

CHAOYAN manufactures brown fused alumina and supplies white fused alumina from the same Luoyang production base, so both materials can be specified, sampled and shipped together under one technical agreement.

  • Two materials, one supplier: brown and white fused alumina graded and packed on the same site
  • Full size programme: F grits, P grits, section sands, fine powders and micropowders
  • Industrial-base pricing: Luoyang is China's main fused alumina production cluster; our prices are set at source, not through layers of resale
  • Batch documentation: test report issued against each production batch

02 / PRODUCT LINES

Four product forms

F Grits — for bonded abrasives and blasting

Coarse white fused alumina F grit held in handMedium white fused alumina F grit held in handFine white fused alumina grit pouring through fingers

FEPA F16–F220, graded to FEPA 42-1. Used in vitrified and resin grinding wheels, cutting discs, and as a reusable blasting medium for stainless steel, aluminium and other surfaces where iron contamination is not acceptable.

White fused alumina P grit streaming from a grading sieve

P Grits — for coated abrasives

FEPA P grits for sanding belts, discs and sheets, graded to FEPA 42-2. Grain shape and distribution are matched to coated abrasive production.

White fused alumina section sand on the magnetic separation and grading line

Section Sands — for refractories

0–1 mm, 1–3 mm, 3–5 mm (5–8 mm on request). Used in corundum bricks, castables, ramming mixes and other shaped and unshaped refractory products.

White fused alumina fine powder on a fine test sieve mesh

Fine Powders & Micropowders

200 mesh and 325 mesh fine powders for refractory and ceramic applications; FEPA micropowders F230 and finer for lapping, polishing and precision grinding of glass, crystal, ceramics and electronic components.

Graded and checked on the line

Every grade is sieved, magnetically separated and checked before it is bagged. The short clip shows coarse white fused alumina grain running through a grading sieve and a hand check — the same check each shipment batch passes before dispatch.

06 / FAQ

Questions buyers ask

What is the difference between white and brown fused alumina?

Both are fused in an electric arc furnace, but they start from different feedstock and end up with different chemistry. Our white fused alumina is fused from high-purity alumina and tests at 99.3% Al₂O₃, with 0.04% Fe₂O₃ and 0.23% Na₂O, so it runs clean and is the usual choice for stainless steel, precision grinding and any job where iron contamination is a problem. Brown fused alumina is fused from bauxite; it is a bit tougher, less friable and lower in cost, and it covers most general grinding, blasting and refractory work. Tell us the application and we will suggest which grade fits — or supply both.

Can I order white and brown fused alumina in one shipment?

Yes. The two materials are graded and packed at the same Luoyang site, so they can be combined in one order and shipped together — mixed in a single container or kept on separate pallets — quoted FOB Tianjin. That means one technical agreement, one set of shipping documents and one payment (100% T/T in advance) covering both materials. Samples work the same way: up to 500 g of each material is free of charge and can be sent together, with freight on collect.

Which grit standards do you grade to?

F grits are graded to FEPA 42-1 across F16–F220, and P grits to FEPA 42-2, the standards bonded and coated abrasive producers work to. Section sands are sieved to millimetre cuts of 0–1, 1–3 and 3–5 mm, and fine powders come in 200 and 325 mesh. Micropowders run from FEPA F230 to finer sizes, and JIS grading can be followed on request — send us the specification you currently buy to and we will grade against it.

What is the standard packing?

Standard export packing is 40 × 25 kg bags inside a 1 MT jumbo bag, which keeps the small bags protected in transit and easy to handle at your warehouse. Palletised packing and bag printing to your own design are available on request — just mention it in your inquiry.

Can I get a test report for my batch?

Yes. Every production batch is tested before dispatch, and the batch test report is issued with your shipment, showing the chemical analysis and the size distribution of the grade you ordered. The white fused alumina we supply tests at Al₂O₃ 99.3%, Na₂O 0.23%, SiO₂ 0.06% and Fe₂O₃ 0.04%, with the exact figures for your order confirmed on the COA of that batch. If your specification sets limits on a particular element, tell us before production and we will check the batch against them.
