TECHNICAL GUIDE / 2026-10-02
Short answer. Select a candidate F grit only after defining the substrate, target result, blasting pressure, nozzle, dry or wet process and reuse cycle. The same nominal grit can behave differently when those conditions change.
Start with the job, not the bag label
CHAOYAN's product materials identify F grit as the abrasive family for blasting and surface preparation. A useful inquiry names the substrate, coating or contamination being removed, required surface condition and any workpiece sensitivity. Then describe the machine: pressure range, nozzle, blasting method and recovery or reuse practice.
Particle shape and grading matter alongside nominal grade. A purchase specification should identify the required F model and particle distribution; a trial should measure the actual result on the workpiece. Avoid claiming a universal result from grit number alone.
| Input | Ask the operator | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Substrate | Metal, glass or other material? | Controls trial context |
| Target | Cleaning, profile or preparation? | Defines acceptance |
| Equipment | Pressure and nozzle? | Changes impact conditions |
| Reuse | Single pass or recycled? | Changes working mix |
A controlled trial and RFQ
Record the starting surface, abrasive sample identity, nozzle and pressure, then evaluate the target result with the buyer's existing inspection method. If comparing grades, change one variable at a time. Capture consumption and reuse conditions if they matter commercially.
Send the working sample, target specification, grade candidate, quantity and packing requirement with the RFQ. Request the matching English PDS and batch acceptance criteria before placing a production order.
Selection guidance
Use the sandblasting application page to narrow product form, then compare F24, F36 or F60 only where the process warrants those candidates. The contact form can carry the exact product and source page automatically.
Common mistakes
- Ordering a bare grit number without a standard or distribution.
- Comparing two abrasives under different pressure or nozzle conditions.
Frequently asked questions
Which CHAOYAN series is used for sandblasting?
The approved catalog identifies F grit as the relevant abrasive series for blasting and surface preparation.
Can a supplier choose a grade from the workpiece name alone?
No. The target result and machine conditions are also needed for a responsible recommendation.
