TECHNICAL GUIDE / 2026-10-02
Short answer. For surface preparation, define the substrate and acceptance target first. Then select an F grit candidate, agree its material specification and test it with the intended equipment.
Separate cleaning from preparation
A buyer may need contamination removal, a surface suitable for a subsequent coating or a specified texture. These targets are related but not interchangeable. State the operation that follows blasting and the inspection criteria it requires.
The approved CHAOYAN catalog lists F grit for blasting and surface preparation. It also offers processing and particle shape discussions against a sample. The grade, distribution and shape should be written into the technical agreement when they matter to the operation.
| Planning item | Example question | Document |
|---|---|---|
| Workpiece | What material and geometry? | Process brief |
| Target | Cleaning or texture requirement? | Acceptance sheet |
| Abrasive | Which F grade and shape? | PDS / specification |
| Verification | How will the result be checked? | Trial record |
From trial to repeat purchase
Use the same nozzle, pressure, distance and abrasive lot when comparing surface results. Record any wet or dry process difference and whether the abrasive is recovered. When a trial succeeds, convert the observed result into clear procurement and inspection requirements.
A repeat order should identify the approved product model, chemistry limits, particle distribution, packing and batch documentation. If the target or equipment changes later, revisit the trial assumptions rather than treating the original result as universal.
Selection guidance
Open the relevant F grit product page and download its PDS. In the inquiry, include the surface target, current process settings, grade, annual volume and acceptance method so a technical reply can be specific.
Common mistakes
- Using 'surface preparation' as the only technical requirement.
- Repeating a trial result without recording the equipment settings.
Frequently asked questions
Which product family should I inspect first?
The CHAOYAN F grit family is the starting route for abrasive blasting and surface preparation.
Does a nominal grade define the final surface?
No. It must be assessed with the substrate, equipment, particle distribution and trial result.
