Short answer. CHAOYAN F grit is the product route for bonded abrasive wheels. A useful request identifies the wheel type, bond, work material, target grade and acceptance criteria before selecting a specific F model.
The grain is one part of the wheel
FEPA describes bonded abrasives as abrasive grains held with bonding materials. Its public standards assign F grit designations to grains for bonded abrasives. In a finished wheel, bond, structure, geometry and operating conditions interact with the grain; the raw material sheet cannot predict the complete wheel result by itself.
The CHAOYAN product catalog lists F8–F320 models and individual pages for wheel applications. The English pages show published chemistry and physical rows where published. The buyer still needs to agree the particle distribution and batch acceptance method for the chosen model.
| Wheel input | Include in RFQ | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Bond | Resin or vitrified | Sets manufacturing route |
| Tool | Wheel type and dimensions | Defines trial context |
| Work | Material and operation | Defines performance target |
| Grain | F grade and current spec | Controls comparison |
From grain sample to tool trial
Ask for a labeled sample of the proposed F model with its English PDS and batch information. Keep the wheel formulation and process settings stable when comparing to the current grain. Record the finished-tool measures that matter to the customer's application.
If a different grade or particle shape is proposed, record that as a separate trial. Once a candidate is accepted, put the chemical, physical, grading, packing and documentation requirements in the order specification.
Selection guidance
Start with the F grit family and narrow to a model such as F24, F36 or F60 only after reviewing the current wheel recipe and trial objective. The inquiry form can carry the model and source page automatically.
Common mistakes
- Assuming an alumina percentage alone predicts wheel life or cutting behavior.
- Changing bond and grain together during a supplier comparison.
Frequently asked questions
Is P grit the normal CHAOYAN route for grinding wheels?
No. The approved catalog presents F grit for bonded abrasive wheel applications and P grit for coated abrasives.
What document sets the delivered grain limits?
The agreed technical specification and batch test result set the purchase acceptance basis.
